Along with the rest of Australia, we here at TMFG are closely monitoring the unfolding events of the COVID-19 outbreak with care and readiness. And like most Australians we’re bracing ourselves for unprecedented changes to the way things work. In the meantime, we realise the unknowing affects us all in myriad ways.

 

So, we’ve got to thinking, what can we do as a company to help our own?

Looking out for our community, showing compassion and working together for a better outcome has been the backbone of TMFG since day one, and it’s at times like these our values really kick in.

“A problem shared is a problem halved”, they say. Which is why we want you to share some of your worries with us through these tough times, so we can ease some of that unknowing.

Now is the perfect time to talk to us about your Mortgage.

We don’t want you to have to worry about the hows and whens of the future of your loans, and, we will do our best to help you find some sort of calm in these uncertain times.

 

Please, talk to us at TMFG if you’re worried about your ability to meet loan repayments in the next 3-6 months. We are all in the same, very unusual boat, and it’s understandable you’d have concerns and questions right now.

 

We can help to understand basics like;

·      What your minimum monthly repayment is.

·      What you have in redraw and how you can access it.

·      If you’re paying the minimum amount on your loan or making extra repayments?  And,

·      Can you reduce this back to the minimum for the short term?

·      In an emergency, do you have access to funds?

·      What are your rights under your mortgage with your lender?

·      Can you intiate  'repayment holidays' in times of financial distress?

  • Utilising offset accounts to reduce interest costs and store excess funds.

  • Open a separate ‘harder to access’ savings account to store any excess funds

  • Loan Protection Insurance and/or Income Protection.

Ensuring your wellbeing

The introduction of social distancing or self-isolation could mean you or a colleague may be living with a tremendous amount of stress related to this crisis and its impacts.

Along with picking up the phone, video conferencing, texting, messaging and emailing, above all, let’s remember we are ALL part of the community and stay connected to each other. And practice kindness––to yourself and each other when you can.
